Intricate designs

No designs are too complicated. We thrive on complexity and quality. We can work from your paper or CAD drawings. Alternatively we can create CAD drawings for you, advising on design and veneer selection. Once the basic woods have been selected there are various ways that they can be laid. Burrs can be book matched or quartered which can reveal enchanting patterns and even create images in your mind, sometimes that only you can see.

Other veneers too can be book matched but also slip matched or spun around to create a different look from the same wood. These woods will look different depending on how they were cut from the original log - crown cut shows the arch of the grain, quarter cut is very straight. All these factors can help us create interesting patterns and designs.

Pressing

Flat & Vacuum pressing, Shaped wooden Lamination's

We have a fully reconditioned flat, 2 daylight, heated Schubert veneer press which is firstly used for the flattening and conditioning of the veneers to be used and secondly to press the prepared veneers onto flat panels using resin glues. Occasionally we have to use other glues when pressing artificial shells etc. but we are very much against the use of PVA when pressing veneers.

A vacuum press is used to form shaped wooden lamination's. Generally plywood or construction grade veneers are used for this. The vacuum press is used again later in the manufacturing process to press the veneers onto the face of these shaped wooden lamination's.

CAD Drawing Service

CAD Drawings & Design

Using Cad we can import your drawings or create new CAD drawings from scratch. The advantage of CAD is that everything is drawn full size, so the proportions of your design can be seen on screen or print and easily altered before any veneer is cut. Any marquetry designs that need laser cutting are all ready to go and can be imported directly into our laser cutting software and sent to the laser for cutting and engraving. This gives us full control of the design.
